Our Swimwear

After leaving my previous job, I went through a few interviews that actually went really well. One role even had the possibility of being bi-coastal. Now that my kids are older and spreading their wings, the idea of spending time on both coasts felt exciting. I love summers in the Atlantic and winters in the Pacific. (I actually love both year-round, but phrasing it that way sounded more poetic—stay focused.)

There’s an unspoken synergy between the two coasts. Each has its own rhythm, yet both share a deep pride in their beaches and the strength in their ocean communities.

The stars didn’t align for that bi-coastal role, but the process rekindled my love for the timeless, classic East Coast aesthetic—and its connection to the women I surf with in Ventura, all the way up to Goleta. I began to see a throughline between these worlds: the understated elegance of the East and the effortless functionality of the West.

What I couldn’t find was swimwear that embodied both. There are plenty of beautiful suits out there, but few that pair elegant simplicity with real performance. I wanted something that looked like a classic '90s preppy suit but stayed put through duck dives and wipeouts.

I’d made surf suits for another brand for over a decade—some I’m still really proud of, and others that taught me a lot. I used to chase the idea of building the most “hardcore” women’s surf suit, but sometimes we overcomplicate things. The best lesson I learned? Do less.

That’s the heart of Coastal Range: Do more with less. Create something simple, beautiful, and built to last.

Our swimwear is made from a blend of recycled polyamide (a form of nylon) and spandex—durable, soft, and designed to move with you. And just as importantly, each suit is meant to look good enough to live in all day. I seriously hate taking off my swimsuit in the summer. A good suit should look just as good with jean shorts and slippas (or slippers—Uggs or flip-flops, depending on your coast).

Coming from a brand where everything was field-tested, I carry that philosophy forward. Every suit we make must spend time in the ocean—under wetsuits, paddling, diving, drying, washing, and repeating the process. It’s a mandatory stage of development, especially for women’s swimwear.

This fall’s line was tested in Sumatra, Ventura (brrr), and Hawaii. Some suits didn’t make the cut for this launch, but they’ll be ready for Spring ’26. We released only what we were truly confident in—pieces that fit well, function beautifully, and stand up to surf.

Our first collection is a small, intentional edit: two tops, two bottoms, one one-piece, and a cropped rashguard. Each style mixes and matches seamlessly, and the neutral palette draws from the coastal landscapes that inspired them. Think of it as your camouflage—a way to blend in with the beauty around you.

We know there are a few essentials still missing, and we’re working on them.  Developing functional apparel takes time to get the fit and performance right. I hear you—full-coverage bottoms and more supportive tops are in the works. We’re keeping our heads down and perfecting those pieces as quickly (and carefully) as we can.
